Trailer or personal drive? An honest comparison
Trailer transport is cheap but slow and impersonal. A personal drive is faster and more careful, but costs more. A level-headed weigh-up of both.
There is no single ‘best’ way to move a car over a long distance — only the way that best fits what matters to you. Below we put trailer transport and a personal drive honestly side by side.
Trailer transport
Your car travels with several others on a truck. Upside: it's the cheapest option (roughly €750–1,250) and adds no kilometres to the odometer. Downside: it often takes 10–14 days, the car is loaded and unloaded several times, and you have one point of contact fewer — it runs through a schedule, not a person.
A personal drive (Drive-it-Back)
One driver takes your car directly. Upside: faster, more careful, and you keep personal contact with daily updates. The car isn't loaded and unloaded but simply driven as intended. Downside: it costs more, and it adds real kilometres (which, for a new or valuable car, can be a deliberate choice).
How to choose
An ordinary car where price matters most? A trailer is fine. A car you care about, a tight timeline, or you simply want one trusted point of contact? Then a personal drive earns its premium.
