Why Monarch Drive

Why you outsource this instead of absorbing it

A mechanic off the ramp for an hour is billable time you have lost. A courtesy car out on the road is a car you are not renting. I cost you one journey and nothing else.

Your people stay in the workshop

I come to the pickup address by public transport, so you need send nobody to fetch or return me. No second car, no second employee, no half a morning evaporating.

One dedicated driver, and that is me

No agency stand-in your customer meets for the first time on the day, and no relief pool you know nothing about. With a customer's car, who is behind the wheel is not a detail.

Recorded on collection and on delivery

Photographs of the condition I find the car in, the odometer and the fuel level — at departure and on arrival. So there is no later conversation about a scratch that was already there.

For the trade

Three kinds of client, the same work

The journey is the same every time. What differs is why it is needed, and that decides what you want to hear from me.

Collection and delivery for your customers

The customer cannot bring the car in or collect it. Today you solve that with a mechanic or a courtesy car. I collect the car at your customer's home or office, bring it to you, and take it back after the work.

Delivery and trade-in, door to door

A sold car has to reach the buyer, a trade-in has to be collected, a car is sitting with a colleague in Antwerp or Düsseldorf. Driven, that is settled the same day, where a trailer takes three working days.

Your fleet where it needs to be

A car left with a client in the South of France that has to come back. Delivery to a door rather than from your forecourt. Repositioning after a one-way rental. I drive it, and you keep your own people free for the renting itself.

How it works

One phone call, and the car is where it should be.

You give me the pickup address, the delivery address and a time. I travel there by public transport, walk the car over and photograph the condition I find it in, odometer and fuel included. You hear from me on the way if there is something to say, and otherwise not. Photographs again on delivery, and you get both sets. Within the Netherlands that is usually the same day; to Belgium and Germany the same day or the next morning.

  • Nice± €1,440
  • Marbella± €2,030
  • Fuel and tollsincluded in those figures

Work it out yourself in the calculator at the top of this page. Those are indications; you get a fixed price in advance.

Insurance

Read this before you call

  • I drive as a driver authorised by you, on the car's own policy
  • Your policy must cover an engaged third party as driver
  • If your insurer cannot confirm that, we do not drive
  • Damage through my fault — I carry the excess up to €500 per event
  • I hold no motor trade policy covering customers' vehicles, and I would rather say so beforehand than afterwards

Rather a day's delay than an uninsured kilometre. That is not a caveat, that is the agreement.

What to check

Ask me, and ask everyone else the same.

Who actually drives, and how old is he? What happens if damage occurs, and who carries the excess? Is the car's condition recorded, or does it run on trust? I answer that in writing before you engage me — on request I send the document setting out who carries which risk in each situation. A client who knows exactly where they stand beforehand is the client it never goes wrong with afterwards.

Shall we start small?

One journey, you judge it, and we take it from there. I have recently started out on my own and have no long client list to show you — what I do have is years of driving experience and the intention to do this properly.

Frequently asked questions

Per journey. No subscription, no minimum volume and no notice period. If you use me regularly we agree a rate for that — but that is a favour from me to you, not an obligation from you to me.

By public transport, or with a follow car where that is more practical. You need send nobody to fetch me. Those travel costs appear separately on the invoice, at actual cost and without mark-up.

Yes, provided you authorise me in writing and the cover on those plates permits an engaged third party. We arrange that before the first journey, not on the morning itself.

I report it within 24 hours, in writing and with photographs, including when it counts against me. For damage to third parties I complete a European accident statement on the spot. Damage through my fault: I carry the excess up to €500 per event.

Yes, and that is the honest answer. Driven transport means kilometres; an enclosed trailer means none. For a car that is up for sale and where the reading counts, a trailer is sometimes the better choice — and I will say so. For a rental car, a workshop run or a car that is going to be driven anyway, speed and price weigh heavier.

Within the Netherlands usually the same day or the next morning. Belgium and Germany the same day or the day after. Further into Europe: up to 1,500 kilometres per driving day, so the South of France and Northern Italy in one day, southern Spain in two.
