Seville — Car transport to Seville

Car transport to Seville

2,200 kilometres, deep into inland Andalusia. Two long driving days, and one month in which the city transforms completely twice.

Why this route

The furthest run inland

Sevilla sits about 2,200 kilometres from the Netherlands. After Málaga that is the longest run on this site, and unlike Málaga it does not end at the sea but a hundred kilometres inland. Two long driving days with one night on the way, and the last stretch crosses the meseta and passes Córdoba.

What sets Sevilla apart is the climate. This is one of the hottest cities in Europe; in July and August the daytime temperature runs well above forty degrees. That is not folklore but something you plan a run around: driving in the early morning, and a delivery address with shade or a garage rather than a space in full sun.

And then the low-emission zone. Spain does not issue its environmental sticker for foreign plates, and Sevilla runs a permanent zone. Since 1 January 2026 every Spanish municipality above twenty thousand inhabitants must have one. I work out per destination which arrangement applies and register the plate in advance.

Who sends a car here

Four situations where this works

Sevilla draws fewer second homes than the coast and more people who are there for a stretch, or who come for something specific.

The Feria de Abril

In 2026 from 13 to 18 April. A week in which the city moves out to the fairground: casetas, horse carriages, flamenco and a centre that fills up. Hotels are booked out months ahead and arriving by car is a different proposition those days. Anyone who wants one waiting has it brought well in advance.

Semana Santa

Holy Week in Sevilla is one of the largest in Spain: days of processions that close the entire historic centre. The date moves with Easter, so I check it at booking. As with the Feria: a car already in place is worth more than one that still has to get there that week.

A longer stay or work

A posting, a period of study, or half a year in Andalusia. Your own car is considerably cheaper than months of hire, and with Sevilla as a base, Córdoba, Cádiz, Jerez and the Sierra are within a couple of hours.

A car that has to come back

The reverse is common here too: a car that has to return to the Netherlands after a spell in Andalusia. I fly out and drive it back, the same service in reverse, without you setting aside two days for it.

The route

Twenty-two hundred kilometres, and the last part inland

Two long driving days. The first half is the familiar French corridor; the second crosses the Spanish plateau and then heads south.

  1. 01

    Registering the plate

    Before departure

Sevilla runs a permanent low-emission zone and the Spanish sticker is not available for foreign plates. I work out which arrangement applies to your car and sort it in advance, so the car may enter the city on the day it arrives.

  2. 02

    The Netherlands to Bordeaux

± 1,000 km, first driving day

Through Belgium and France, around Paris and then south-west via Tours and Poitiers. This is where the French toll sits and where the distance gets made. The first day usually ends around Bordeaux.

  3. 03

    Bordeaux to Madrid

± 700 km, over the border at Irún

Past Biarritz to Irún, through the Basque Country and then up onto the meseta past Burgos. This is where the landscape changes and the average speed drops. In winter there can be snow on the Sierra; then I schedule this section in daylight.

  4. 04

    Madrid to Sevilla

    ± 530 km through Andalusia

The A4 south, over Despeñaperros and past Córdoba. This is the quickest part of the run and at the same time the hottest: in July and August I would rather drive this section in the early morning than in the afternoon.

  5. 05

    Delivery and the way back

    Centre, suburb or garage

In the historic centre of Sevilla the streets are narrow and partly car-free, and the low-emission zone applies. Give me the address and, if you can, the garage at booking. After delivery I fly home from Sevilla, or from Málaga if the flight times suit better. That ticket is in the price.

Practical points

The Spanish sticker is not available for your car

The Spanish sticker is not issued for foreign plates. In some cities you can use a German, French, Danish or Austrian sticker; in others the plate has to be registered in advance. Sevilla runs a permanent zone, and since 1 January 2026 every municipality above twenty thousand inhabitants must have one. Entering without valid access costs from € 200, and since 2026 Spain measures with roadside sniffers that register plate and emissions.

Recurring events

Two large ones, close together in spring. The Feria de Abril falls from 13 to 18 April in 2026: a week in which the city moves out to the fairground and the centre fills up. And before it, Semana Santa, one of the largest in Spain, with days of processions closing the historic centre, that date moves with Easter, so I check it at booking. In both periods the hotels are booked out months ahead.

The summer heat is a planning factor

Sevilla is one of the hottest cities in Europe; in July and August the daytime temperature runs well above forty degrees. I then drive the last stretch in the early morning, and I ask in advance whether there is a garage or shade at the delivery address. A car standing two weeks in full Andalusian sun is not a good idea, and that goes for the interior as much as the paint.

Delivery across the region

Córdoba, Jerez, Cádiz, Huelva and the Sierra are all within a couple of hours of Sevilla. Delivery to another address in that region usually costs nothing extra; tell me at booking where the car should stand.

Luggage travels with it

No trailer is involved, so whatever fits in your car comes along. For a longer stay or a posting that saves a separate shipment, and nothing has to be left at home because it would not fit in a case.

Compare your options

The same car from the Netherlands to Southern Europe, three ways, three price tags. With a trailer, watch which one you are comparing: riding along on a scheduled line from depot to depot is the cheapest there is, but a transporter making the run for your car alone charges per kilometre and bills the truck’s journey home as well. Between those two extremes sits a factor of five.

Trailer transport

€675 – 4,500 excl.

± 10 working days, or 2–3

  • €675 – 850 if your car rides along on a scheduled line
  • But then you take it to the depot yourself and collect it yourself on arrival, ten working days later
  • If the transporter runs for your car alone, door to door, it goes per kilometre — open ± €0.95, enclosed ± €1.35 — and the truck’s journey home counts too. Utrecht–Marbella comes to ± €4,500
  • Luggage in the car usually not allowed

Driving it yourself

± €0.25 per km + your time

± 2 – 3 days of your own

  • You drive the whole route yourself
  • Fuel and tolls come to roughly €0.25 per kilometre
  • Plus a hotel night on the way and a flight back
  • And two to three days of your own time

Frequently asked

What people ask about this route

2,200 kilometres is two long driving days with one night on the way, usually around Bordeaux. At booking I say which arrival day is realistic.

You cannot get one: the Spanish sticker is not issued for foreign plates. Sevilla does run a permanent zone, so I work out which arrangement applies to your car and sort it in advance.

Yes, provided it is booked well ahead. The Feria falls from 13 to 18 April in 2026; Semana Santa moves with Easter. In both weeks the centre is largely closed and hotels are booked out months ahead, so we agree a delivery address outside the centre.

Not for the run, provided we drive the last stretch early. For the car afterwards it is: forty degrees and full sun are hard on paint and interior. That is why I ask in advance whether there is a garage or shade at the delivery address.

Yes. Those are all within a couple of hours of Sevilla and it normally costs nothing extra. Give me the address at booking.

By air from Sevilla, or from Málaga if the flight times suit better. That ticket is in the price.
