Chauffeur services
Private chauffeur in Amersfoort
Not a taxi and not a fleet: I drive your car through Amersfoort. Twenty minutes from my base, so approach time is barely a line on the bill here.
A dedicated driver based in the Utrecht region. I work without a fleet of my own — you travel in your own, familiar car and I handle the drive.
What you use me for
- Business trips and appointments in and around Amersfoort
- Driven to Schiphol or Eindhoven Airport, with your car back home
- Representative occasions, dinners and events
- A dedicated driver on fixed days, by arrangement
How it works
- 1
You share the date, time and route — you get a fixed rate and confirmed availability up front, no loose ends.
- 2
I come to you on time and drive you in your own car: discreet, punctual and one familiar face instead of rotating drivers.
- 3
Expenses (parking, tolls, fuel) are calculated up front and included in the price — transparent, with no surprises afterwards.
What this actually is
Your own car, in a centre that does not want cars
First, what it is not: not a taxi, not a hire car with a driver and not a fleet. I come to you, get behind the wheel of the car you already own and drive you where you need to be. You sit in the back of your own vehicle, and at the end of the day that car is back where it belongs.
Amersfoort is small enough to make you think you will be there in no time, and old enough not to deliver on that. The centre inside the old wall houses is a web of one-way streets, loading windows and stretches you simply may not enter. An appointment at the Hof or on 't Zand means parking at the edge and walking — exactly the ten minutes you had not allowed for.
What makes Amersfoort particular for me is the distance: twenty kilometres from my base in the Utrecht region. That means approach time barely counts in the quote. After Utrecht itself, this is the cheapest city on this site to book me in, and it can often still be arranged the same day.
When this works
Four situations where it earns its keep
In Amersfoort it is rarely about long distances. It is about a historic core where the car is unwelcome, and evenings when the whole city is out on the street.
Into the centre without circling
An appointment at the Hof, on the Langestraat or at one of the offices along the canal ring. Driving yourself you park at the edge and walk ten minutes. I drop you as close to the door as the street allows and find a space afterwards.
An evening in the city
Dinner on 't Zand or the Hof, something at the Lieve Vrouwekerk or drinks on the Krommestraat, with the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren — Lange Jan, ninety-eight metres and the third-highest church tower in the country — as the place everyone arranges to meet and nobody can park. Afterwards I simply bring you and your car home, with no evening surcharge.
Offices on the edge, appointments in the centre
De Nieuwe Stad, the Eemplein and the offices along the A28 have space; the centre does not. Anyone doing both in a day drives back and forth and parks twice. With me that is one run in which you can keep working.
Out of Amersfoort into the Randstad
Amersfoort sits where the A1 meets the A28, which means you can reach anywhere from here and also get stuck everywhere in the peak. A run to Amsterdam or Zwolle is an hour to go through your papers in the back of your own car.
How a day runs
From your driveway to the last appointment
I plan an Amersfoort day around which addresses sit inside the canal ring and which do not — that saves more time than the route itself.
- 01
Collection wherever you are
A quarter of an hour before the appointment
At home, at the office or at Amersfoort Centraal. I am there well before the agreed time. Because I am twenty kilometres away, an appointment here can often still happen the same day — for most other cities I ask for a day's notice.
- 02
The drive to Amersfoort
From Utrecht ± 25 min
Down the A28, a short stretch that can still double in the morning and evening peak at the Rijnsweerd junction. In those hours I build in margin; arriving early costs you nothing.
- 03
Inside the canal ring
Where you can and cannot go
The historic core has one-way streets, timed access windows and car-free sections. I work out in advance how far I can drive and where the nearest point is to let you out, rather than us discovering it on the spot with your appointment five minutes away.
- 04
Waiting or coming back
Between two appointments
If your appointment takes an hour, I stay nearby. If it takes half a day, we agree that I leave and return, so you are not paying for hours in which I do nothing. From eight hours the € 300 day rate is better value.
- 05
Back to your own driveway
End of the day
After the last appointment I take you home and leave the car where it belongs. If you left earlier by train, I still drive the car back and send a message with a photograph once it is parked.
Practical points
What it costs — and why Amersfoort is favourable
The rate is € 40 per hour excl. VAT with a three-hour minimum; from eight hours a day rate of € 300 applies. Because you are twenty kilometres from my base, approach time barely weighs here. After Utrecht itself, this is the cheapest city on this site to book me in.
No environmental zone — unlike Utrecht
This is often confused: Amersfoort has no environmental zone for passenger cars. Your car may go anywhere, including an older diesel. Twenty kilometres away in Utrecht it is different — there emission class 5 is the minimum. If you are driving on to Utrecht that day, give me the registration and I will check it in advance.
Recurring events
Two weekends a year the centre fills up. Dias Latinos falls in the first weekend of July — 2 to 5 July in 2026 — with freely accessible stages through the centre, a carillon programme on the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren and an open-air film on the Lieve Vrouweplein. Amersfoort Jazz has been running for more than forty years and draws over a hundred thousand visitors. On those days streets are closed and I plan the approach differently.
Insurance
I drive under your own policy, like any driver with your permission. Check once that there is no age or named-driver restriction on it; with almost every Dutch policy this is not an issue. If you are unsure, send the policy sheet along and I will look at it with you.
Discretion
What is discussed in the car stays in the car. One familiar face who knows your route and your preferences, rather than a different driver every time.
Rate
All rates shown are excl. VAT — this page is aimed at business clients. If you are a private customer, 21% VAT is added: €48.40 per hour instead of €40.

Frequently asked
What people want to know beforehand
No, not for passenger cars. Your car may go anywhere in the city, including an older diesel. Note that Utrecht does have one: there emission class 5 is the minimum. If you are driving on to Utrecht that day, give me the registration.
The hourly rate is the same everywhere, but the approach time to your door is in the quote and Amersfoort is twenty kilometres from my base. After Utrecht itself, this is therefore the most favourable city.
Often yes, precisely because you are so close to my base. Calling costs you nothing; if it will not work I will say so straight away.
As far as it is allowed. The historic core has one-way streets, timed windows and car-free parts. I work out in advance how far I can get and drop you as close to the door as possible.
Yes, and that is exactly when it helps. Please book well ahead though: on those days streets are closed and the usual spots are taken, so I plan the approach and the drop-off point differently.
No, deliberately not. I drive the car you already own. You sit in your own vehicle and at the end of the day it is back at your house.
Yes, with no surcharge. An evening on the Hof or 't Zand with a safe drive home afterwards is exactly what people call for.
