Not a taxi, not a coach and not a shuttle van: one dedicated driver takes your own car to Departures 1, 2 or 3, and drives it back to your own driveway afterwards.
A dedicated driver based in the Utrecht region. I work without a fleet of my own. You travel in your own, familiar car and I handle the drive.

What this actually is
Your own car to the terminal, and home again
Let me start with what it is not, because that is where most of the confusion online sits. This is not a taxi: no unfamiliar car pulls up outside. It is not a coach and not a minibus: there is no group transport involved. And it is not a shuttle running a fixed route. I come to your home or office, get behind the wheel of your car, drive you to the departure hall where your check-in desk is, and then take that same car back to your own driveway.
So you travel in your own vehicle, with your own seat heating, your own boot space and your own things in the glovebox. At the terminal you step out and walk in. I stay with the car, clear the boot if that is needed, and drive off. Nothing sits on a parking deck for a fortnight and nobody in your family has to make the round trip twice.
Coming back, it works in reverse. You give me your flight number, I track the landing time, and the car is waiting when you arrive, or I collect you and drive you home. Whichever you choose, it is the same driver, the same car and the same phone number from start to finish.
When this earns its keep
Four situations where it makes the difference
Schiphol is not a complicated destination. What makes it complicated is the hour, the luggage, and the question of where your car spends the next fortnight.
The quarter-past-six flight
Airlines advise arriving two hours before a European flight, three hours during holiday weeks. For a 06:15 departure that means standing at Schiphol around 04:15, and leaving Utrecht around 03:15. At that hour there is no train yet and a taxi is expensive. I do drive, and you can sleep another hour in your own car.
Away for two weeks
Without a reservation, P3 Long Stay charges € 44 for the first 24 hours, € 75 for the second and € 8.50 a day after that, for a fortnight that comes to well over € 220. Booking well ahead brings it down to roughly € 9 to € 20 a day. Honestly: against my rate that is not a dramatic saving. The difference is that your car sits on your own driveway rather than on a parking deck for fourteen days, and that you are not queuing for a shuttle bus when you land.
Using the morning
From Utrecht it is three quarters of an hour, from Rotterdam or The Hague slightly longer. That is three quarters of an hour in which you can make calls, go through your presentation, or do nothing at all, in the back of your own car, not in a taxi with a meter running and a driver you have never met.
Landing late
A ninety-minute delay is a problem for a taxi and a lost evening for the relative collecting you. I work from the flight number: if the landing moves, the appointment moves with it. You do not phone anyone, you walk out and the car is there.
How the drive runs
From your driveway to the right check-in desk
Schiphol has three departure halls and it matters which one you are dropped at. I plan backwards: first the time you need to be inside, then the hall, then the drive, then the moment I am at your door.

At your home or office
Departure time minus ± 3 hours
I arrive a quarter of an hour before the agreed time so loading never becomes a rush. Luggage goes into your own boot, no tetris in an unfamiliar car, and hand luggage can simply sit beside you. You hand over the key, I drive. If you want to pick the route or stop somewhere on the way, say so: it is your car.

The drive to the airport
Utrecht ± 45 min, Rotterdam or The Hague ± 55 min
From Utrecht the route runs via the A2 and the A9 at Badhoevedorp; from the southern Randstad it is the A4. In the morning peak the A4 towards Hoofddorp is where time disappears, so in those hours I build in twenty minutes rather than hoping for the best. Better early at the hall than watching a desk close.

At the right departure hall
Departures 1, 2 or 3
Check-in desks 1 to 8 sit in Departures 1, desks 9 to 16 in Departures 2 and desks 17 to 32 in Departures 3. I look up in advance which desk your flight checks in at and drop you there, not 'at Schiphol'. With luggage that saves a long walk through Schiphol Plaza.

Getting out without a clock running
Kiss & Ride
In the Kiss & Ride zones you may stand for a maximum of ten minutes; after that the camera reads your plate and a € 25 fine follows. Because I stay behind the wheel, that clock never works against you: you step out, I drive on. That is exactly the difference from driving yourself. You do not have to hurry, because the car does not have to leave without you.

The car back to your driveway
Same day
After dropping you off I drive your car back and leave it where it belongs. You get a message with a photograph as soon as it is parked, so you know before you board. Key as agreed: through the letterbox, with the neighbours, or back at the office.
Practical points
What it costs
The rate is € 40 per hour excl. VAT with a three-hour minimum, so a one-way run from the Utrecht region comes to € 120 excl. VAT. From eight hours a day rate of € 300 applies. Out and back on the same day is cheaper than two separate runs, just ask and I will work it out for you rather than leaving you to guess.
The shuttle bus you are not taking
From P3 a free electric bus runs every ten minutes and takes about five. It is well organised, but with suitcases and a sleepy family it is easily twenty minutes at the front end and another twenty after a night flight. Those twenty minutes are part of what you are paying to avoid.
Delayed or early flights
Give me your flight number when you book. I track the live landing time and shift the appointment without you having to call. If the flight is cancelled the booking lapses free of charge, as long as you let me know the same day.
Holiday peaks
The busy days at Schiphol are predictable: the start and end of every school holiday, the May break, the July and August peak and the Christmas weeks. In those periods airlines advise arriving three hours ahead rather than two, which shifts your departure from home by an hour. I plan with that, so you do not discover at the bag drop on a Wednesday morning in May that it is not going to work.
Insurance and your own policy
I drive your car under your own insurance, like any driver with your permission. Check once whether your policy carries an age or named-driver restriction; with almost every Dutch policy this is not an issue. If you are unsure, send the policy sheet along and I will look at it with you before we agree anything.
Luggage
There is no limit beyond what fits in your own car. Ski gear, a pram, three suitcases and a buggy: it all comes because it is your vehicle. That is precisely where this differs from a taxi.
Rate
All rates shown are excl. VAT. This page is aimed at business clients. If you are a private customer, 21% VAT is added: €48.40 per hour instead of €40.

No. With a taxi an unfamiliar car pulls up and you pay per kilometre. With me, I get into your car, drive you to the departure hall and take that car back to your own driveway afterwards. You are paying for my time, not for a vehicle.
No, I do not. I have no fleet and no buses. If you need transport for a group of thirty, a coach company will serve you better. I drive one car: yours.
Plan on being there two hours before a European flight and three hours before an intercontinental one or during school holidays. From Utrecht add three quarters of an hour of driving, an hour in the morning peak. When booking I work that back from your departure time with you.
